Let's Review: The Golf Club at Mansion Ridge
Orange County, New York
The Skinny
Mansion Ridge might be a trek for city weekenders, but die-hards will find the trip worthwhile with top notch conditions, scenic property, and a challenging layout.

The Course
There might not be a lot of people who think of upstate New York as a golf hotspot, but please consider The Golf Club at Mansion Ridge as a proper contender for best rounds of public golf within a somewhat reasonable drive from the city.
From anywhere between 1-2 hours away by car, Mansion Ridge might be more of a pre-upstate wedding golf morning than somewhere you’re making it there and back from the city at the drop of a hat.
That said, this course offers an awesome layout that definitely feels upstate - geological standouts, wetlands and woods, dramatic elevation, you name it.
The course takes a while to get you out of the radius of the clubhouse, but soon enough you feel like you’re in the Catskills playing the remote round you were promised. This course and its layout reward the folks who make the trip from the city.
The Price
For a weekend round that will hover around $100-150, this is a value. Yes, the course isn’t right in your backyard, but for an hour’s drive, they have wiggle room to charge more should they please, and I’d still elect to make the trip once or twice a season.
Signature Hole
18 is an awesome finishing hole that takes a precipitous, blind drop with a pond hidden to the left, protecting a small green not far from the clubhouse.
My personal favorite hole was the 14th, a dog leg right with a forced carry over wetland off the tee and a huge rock backdrop near the green - feels very Catskills.

Grabbing a Bite
The town of Orange County is probably not dense with food options, I’d pack a lunch or eat at the clubhouse
Nice to Know
This is a golf course for people with cars - no doubt about that. There are some trains that can get you about 40 minutes away, but ubers won’t be easy to come by once you’re out there.
The range is mats only and no driver / woods which is sad. They do have a fun chipping area off of grass that you will definitely need for your round. Carts are top tier.
How many sleeves: 3
Not tighter than it needs to be, but tight enough. There is trouble all over, especially on the back - load up your bag to be safe.
